Attendees at the 2011 NAIFA Career Conference and Annual Meeting got a special treat on their first day at the meeting in Washington, D.C.--a message and song about leadership from Keni Thomas, a critically acclaimed recording artist, speaker, and recipient of the nation's Bronze Star for Valor.

From that experience, Thomas learned some vital lessons about leadership, which he shared with the attendees:
  • Set goals for yourself.
  • You are only as good as the people on your left and on your right.
  • You are only as good as the weakest link.
  • You can do well, but you need great people to be successful.
  • To achieve success, you must give your team members purpose, direction and motivation.
  • Every piece of the puzzle matters.
  • You must plan for every eventuality.
  • You are the only one like you.
