Bill Nold, the deputy executive director of the Office of the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange, told Bloomberg BNA that more than 44 percent of the 85,000 Kentuckians who enrolled in qualified health plans through the state's marketplace benefited from the assistance of an insurance agent or broker.

"We wanted early on to make sure that our insurance agent community was very much involved in the process, and it appears they have been engaged," Nold said. "As time goes on as we get into the next enrollment period, we'll have even more interest from our agent community in helping people get enrolled."

The report from Kentucky appears to bear out NAIFA survey results that showed NAIFA members who sell and service health plans would be very active helping individuals and families enroll within the state and federal marketplaces.
